2024 Adult Learn to Swim Program

Swimming With Alaska Masters offers adult swim lessons to the community through our innovative, learn-at-your-own-pace swim program. Our certified professional swim coaches provide adult swimmers the opportunity to learn the basics and improve their skills in a safe and private environment at Alaska Pacific University's Moseley Sports Center, 4400 University Dr., Anchorage.

The Learn to Swim program allows swimmers to progress at their own pace, mastering one set of skills before moving on to the next. Swimming lessons for adults are available in the following three levels, developed to meet the needs of adult learners:

Learning the Basics: Participants learn foundational water safety skills and basic swimming strokes they need to stay safe in, on and around the water. This includes breath control, body balance and self-rescue techniques.

Improving Skills and Swimming Strokes: Participants gain proficiency in basic aquatic skills and the six basic swimming strokes (Front Crawl, Breaststroke, Side Stroke, Elementary Back Stroke, Backcrawl and Butterfly).

Swimming for Fitness: Participants will learn to refine their front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke and turns to build endurance. If interested, participants can learn how to perform a safe shallow water diving entry per request.

Adult Group Swim Lessons Schedule: Saturdays, March 9 – April 27, 10:30 – 11:15 am

Cost: $10 per lesson per student*

Registration: Complete the Learn to Swim registration form and deliver to the coach on deck.
